Day 8 - 29 Faces Art Challenge September 2015

Today's face is looking very solemn and a little sad.  Not sure why they're coming out that way maybe subconsciously that's how I'm feeling.

Day 7 - 29 Faces Challenge September 2015

I managed to find some time this morning to play with my acrylics and inktense blocks.  Although it's not a complete painting I'm happy with the shading - not perfect but heading in the right direction.

Day 6 - 29 Faces Art Challenge Sept 2015

Day 6 flowers in my hair.  Some say she looks sad.  I think she looks thoughtful, maybe dreaming of another place and time.

Catch Up 29 Faces Art Challenge Day's 3 4 and 5

Quick post showing the faces for day 3 4 and 5.  Been a busy week with work so haven't had time to blog last few days.

Here goes -

Day 3 - I'm not happy with this one as I messed up with the shading and the flowers look too flat.

Day 4 - This one is much nicer even if the colour is in grey tones.

Day 5 - what can I say lol this one turned out pants but never mind it was a quick sketch as you can see.

Summer Of Colour 5 Week 6

We have come to the end of the Summer of Colour challenge which makes me sad.  The weeks have just flown by and in those weeks I've been lucky enough to have seen many creations by very talented artists.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the artists who have visited and left comments.

The final weeks colours are 2 orange and 1 blue.  Here is my last canvas and a collage of all 6 canvases together.

Summer Of Colour 5 Week 5

This weeks colours are 2 shades of green and 1 pink.  I like this colour combination.  I've kept with the heart theme again but added another of my favourite elements - butterflies.  The heart was cut out of patterned scrapbook paper over which I applied one of the greens and some pink - you can just about see the pattern through the paint.  This was stuck onto the canvas with some gel medium.  The tiny butterflies are made using a punch and the large and medium ones are rubber stamps - I used some gelli print I had from a previous project.  To finish off I added some stickles glitter onto the butterflies.

Summer Of Colour 5 Week 4

The heart theme continues and this weeks colours lend themselves very nicely to it - 2 reds and 1 metallic.  I chose to use a primary red and cadmium red deep hue with gold accents.  The heart was cut made using some oriental text paper onto which I stenciled some gold flowers and added some red gems to the center.  I've stamped some random abstract designs around the edges of the canvas and added some red stars to finish off.  I may come back to this one at a later date as I feel it's still unfinished but for this project it serves it's purpose.

Summer of Colour 2015 Week 3

The colours for week 3 of SOC5 are 2 purples and 1 yellow.  I have to admit this isn't my favourite combination of colours because when applied over each other while wet will create mud - or at least that's been my experience in the past.    I did find a solution to this - if you seal either of the colours before painting over the top it will stop this from happening - I use a matt medium by Daler-Rowney.

I promise I've only used one shade of yellow however when applied over the purple background it comes up darker than it does on white (stars in the middle of the heart).

Well here it is this weeks heart canvas in 2 shades of purple and one yellow.

Summer Of Colour 2015 Week 1 & 2

Last week saw the start of the Summer of colour challenge over at Twinkle, Twinkle blog.  Every week for the next 6 weeks the challenge is to use only the specified colours in our artwork.  Last week the colours we could use were 2 shades of blue and one of green - our choice of shade.  This week we have 2 pinks and one orange.  Last year I made random designs using the colours however this year I've decided to make a collection of 5 x 8 wrapped canvases using hearts and butterflies as the main design.

Week 1 - 2 blues 1 green (I still need to add some text)

"Be Fearless" Week 2 - 2 pinks 1 orange

WOYWW 312 and 6 Year Anniversary

WOW how time flies.  I have to say I have only participated in WOYWW the last couple of years but those years have been fun and I've made some good friends and have been privileged to see what has been created on them.

I think Julia who instigated the What's on your work desk Wednesday blog hops has done an amazing job in gathering a bunch of artists together who would otherwise not have met.  The internet is great isn't it?  So why not pop on over to Julia's blog the Stamping Ground and see what I mean about connecting to artists from all over the world.

In the meantime I'd like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who visits my little blog world and leaves a comment or two or if you just happen to pass through.

Not much going on on my desk.  I bought these lovely ceramic beads from a facebook friend who was doing a destash and I'm trying to decide what to make with them.  I know there will be several pieces made but that's as far as I've got.  I may use copper or brass wire with them - what do you think?

100 Happy Days - Dress

This is the dress I should have worn on Saturday for my friends birthday party but I didn't get time to finish it on time. I finally managed to finished it this evening after work. Needs a good press but at least it's made. ‪#‎100happydays‬ 10

Day 8 of 100 Happy Days Swirls and Twirls

I love the design and scroll work of this gate. It's on a building across from the gym that I go to. I'm not sure what the building used to be or what it's used for now but I think the gates are quite old and in keeping with the brick work.‪#‎100happydays‬

Tweet Tweet - Day 7 of 100 Happy Days

I've just been sorting out some of the greeting cards that I have and I found this one little birdie card all on his lonesome.  I made and sold quite a few before Christmas.  I had so much fun making them and each one was different in colour and design.  I wonder if anyone will claim him and give him a new home?

100 Happy Days Day 6 Rainbow

What a miserable wet and windy day it's been today.  It's been more like winter than nearly summer.  I'm waiting for this heat wave which is supposed to hit the UK.  But among all the dreary weather I spotted a lovely rainbow while I was driving home and I had to stop and take a picture.  #100happdays

100 Happy Days - Day 5

I started sewing my dress together today.  Not sure what possessed me to buy silk material other than that is all the fabric store had with spots.  So anyway I've only the sleeves to go in.  I'll see what it looks like once I have them in and then decide whether to wear it on Saturday or not.  Why?  well lets just say the fit is comfortable and so long as I don't breathe or eat or sit I should be fine hahaha.

100 Happy Days Challenge Day 4

Who needs chocolate when you have cheese?  I love cheese and would choose it over any sweet dessert.  I bought this goats cheese from one of the regular stall holders at Altrincham market.  I also bought a creamy cheese wrapped in thistle leaves but I'll post that on another day.  In the meantime here is my plate of rather gooey goats cheese and poppy seed crackers.  #100happydays

100 Happy Days Challenge Day #3

What is 100 Happy Days Challenge? You can find all the details here.

Day 3 seeing spots - silk material to make a dress for a birthday party where the theme is heroes and villains.  I'm aiming for the darker skinned Cruella from 101 Dalmatians haha we'll see how that one works.  The black and white spotted material will be the top half of the dress while the black on black will be the skirt part.  I have a week to make it - pics to follow if it works.  If not I'll be heading for the back-up plan of wearing a sari and going as a Bollywood heroine.
