Day 8 - 29 Faces Art Challenge September 2015

Today's face is looking very solemn and a little sad.  Not sure why they're coming out that way maybe subconsciously that's how I'm feeling.

Day 6 flowers in my hair.  Some say she looks sad.  I think she looks thoughtful, maybe dreaming of another place and time.

Catch Up 29 Faces Art Challenge Day's 3 4 and 5

Quick post showing the faces for day 3 4 and 5.  Been a busy week with work so haven't had time to blog last few days.

Here goes -

Day 3 - I'm not happy with this one as I messed up with the shading and the flowers look too flat.

Day 4 - This one is much nicer even if the colour is in grey tones.

Day 5 - what can I say lol this one turned out pants but never mind it was a quick sketch as you can see.

29 Faces Art Challenge Day 3

Day 3 of the #29faces art challenge.  I started painting this one with Derwent's graphic tint pencils but they didn't like the gesso and left grainy bits which made the whole thing look 'dirty' so I went over some of it with acrylic paint.

29 Faces Art Challenge Day 2

Day 2 of the #29faces art challenge.

Not too sure about this one. It started off as a male face but seems to have gone off a bit. I think its the chin it became too rounded as I painted. Didn't bother with the hair too much as I wanted to concentrate on the shading of the face.  I have another 26 days to improve.

29 Faces Art Challenge Feb 2015

Okay lovelies it's that time of year when I try to draw or paint a face each day for the #29Faces art challenge.  Want to know more about this challenge then pop on over to Ayala Arts blog 29 Faces Art Challenge to learn more and to see all the other artists who are joining in from all over the globe.

Here is my first face.  This was originally a postcard which I had painted on but didn't like so I covered it with black and white gesso and some texture paste.  The face is painted with gouache in a loose style.

If you leave a comment and are visiting via the link from the challenge linky then please can I ask that you add which number you are on the list - makes it much easier to find you and able me to visit your blog in return.

Thanks for popping by to visit and I look forward to seeing everyone faces.

Day 3 of 29 Faces Challenge

Day 3 of the 29 Faces Challenge and today we have an abstract style face. I thought I'd try a different approach to the challenge as I'm sure everyone is tired, bored or both by now of the whimsy style of my work plus it's good to get out of your comfort zone every now and again.  So here it is painted with acrylic paint on watercolour paper, outlines in black pitt pen................I've just realised I've not added any white highlights to the eyes.....oooppps.

You can see other artists work over at the 29 Faces Challenge blog.

29 Faces Art Challenge Day 1

So I made it home in time for the new 29 Faces art challenge for February 2014 (I was one of hundreds of people who's flights were delayed in Atlanta GA due to the snow fall).

So here is day 1 - I actually started this at the airport with my limited supply of pencils and pens.  I finished if off at home with the rubber stamping.

Go check out the other artists over on the 29 Faces blog.

Till tomorrow

Faces, Fimo and Slide Mounts

It's been a busy few days so haven't had time to update the blog.  So this ones going to be bit of a long one :)

Firstly, the 29 Faces Art Challenge finishes today.  I've had a great time trying to draw faces.  It's been quite a journey but a great experience.  Looking back at the faces from the 29 days I'd say there was some improvement in my faces..........obviously still a long way to go but as they say practice makes perfect.

26, 27, 28 and 29

I want to share this face with you (#21) I'm really pleased with the way she came out and hence I have made her into a greetings card - I took a photograph of the original piece and altered it a little with an online editing software.  The original is painted with Faber Castell Polychromo pencils.  The orange and large green hearts are digi stamps from Handmade Harbour.

#21

In a previous post I shared some air dry fimo clay items I'd made hearts, elephant, key and a couple of mutilated gingerbread men.  Well today I finished making up the gingerbread men.  I painted them with acrylic paint and added some wire and beads.  These are for trading on ATCsforALL.

#Twisted Christmas

Finally I went to the Happy Stampers Festival at Portsunlight.  The village hall is where a collection of Rubber Stamp companies come to sell their stamps and do demos on how to use certain products.  I ended up buying a couple of unmounted stamps, a couple of stencils (these seem to be favour of the month), some modge podge sticks which are used with a glue gun and can be melted straight into molds and a few other little bits.

#Portsunlight buys

I made these mount slide art pieces today using the rubber stamps I bought yesterday.  The mounts are a sizzix die.  I've painted them with Derwent inktense water colour pencils added some fabric flowers and butterfly also painted with the inktense pencils.

Well I think I'm up to date.
Hope you have a wonderful week creating some art.

Faces 22, 23 and 24 29 Faces Art Challenge

Here are my faces for day #22, #23 and #24 for the 29 Faces Art Challenge.  I can't believe that there's only a few days to go before the challenge ends.

I went back to #21 and added a background to it.  She looked rather lonely all by herself on the blank page.  Once the colour has been added I think it will look better that it was previously.

Face #15 of 29 Faces Art Challenge

#15  Today I'm sharing a picture I drew nearly 10 years ago when I took a drawing class.  This was from a picture in one of my drawing books.  I'll see if I can find the original so you can compare the 2 faces for likeness.
