Self Portrait - Challenge

Have you ever been thrown out of your comfort zone?  Well that's exactly what happened to me when one of the travelling journals arrived and the theme was self-portraits.  Now those who know me know that I don't do "realistic" work.  It took me a couple of weeks of procrastination and nerves to pick up the journal and just get it done.  I chose a photograph that was taken by Martha from Ayala Art  - Martha came all they way up to San Diego to meet me when I was over there in February.  It was so lovely to actually meet her in person at long last.

So here is what I did and I'm going to congratulate myself of achieving a not too bad selfie painting (I hope never to do another one too soon haha).

Traveling Art Journal

Back in September 2015 Ayala Art (aka Martha) hosted another traveling art journal circle where a group of artists would send their journal around the world from one artist to another and each artist would make art in the journal according to the theme requested by the artist.  This time we have 11 artists in the group from the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Here are some pics of the art I have made.

Art Every Day Month - November Day 6

No I didn't miss a day I just posted on the facebook group yesterday as I'd already had a post up for WOYWW (what's on your work desk Wednesday).

One of my Gelli art prints

Today I've made some progress on the canvas I'm making for Flood The Street with Art, I've added some texture with stencils and a light texture paste, I've also added some stencil elements with acrylic paint.  A canvas which I'm prepping with colour and I found a page in my altered book where I'd cleaned off my brushes of excess paint and found that there were a couple of shape so I've started to outline them and fill in the spaces for facial features.  I may just have them so they indicate a face - we'll see.

Pages in my altered book - can you see the 3 images on the right hand side page?

Canvas being prepped but not sure what I'll be doing on it yet.

Painting for Flood the streets with Art - texture paste and stencils.  I've also changed the colour of the flowers and lightened the background.

Have fun and if you'd like to join in with Art Every Day Month or Flood the streets with Art then please do pop over and have a look at the details.

Enjoy your evening

Sunday Sentiments #4

A very quick post from me today for the Sunday Sentiments link up with Inky Dinky Doodle - this is a journal page I made nearly 12 months ago and I thought I would share it today.

"The past is just a ghost, the future is a dream, all we ever has is now - Bill Crosby"

I love this quote.  There is only the NOW.  We can make intentions for the future but the universe will deliver only when the time is right.  When I look back at some of the things that have occurred in my life I can see now where it was all leading - or at least some of it.  The last few years I've become more aware of the Law of Attraction and how the universe works and how to make my life better and maybe direct it to how I want it to be in the future.

Please do pop over and see what the other artists are sharing for Sunday Sentiments.

Trust, Breathe, Let Go

I'm sharing this young lady again for Sunday Sentiments and also because she is one of my favourites.  I've used Faber Castell polychromo coloured pencils, acrylic paint, white and black acrylic posca pens and rubber stamped words on water colour paper.  It measures 15 x 11 cms.

If you fancy joining in the fun or just want to see what others are creating then pop on over to

Home Is Where The heART Is.

Home is where the heART is.  I'm one of the participants in a travelling journal which will take 12 months to complete - this is the 1st journal which has traveled from the USA.  It's quite a big page slightly bigger than A4 so it was a bit daunting to be faced with a blank page that size.  However once I had an idea of what I wanted to do it developed quite easily.  My favourite are the tubes of paint with the rubber stamped flowers which look like they are growing out of the tubes.  This has given me an idea for some skinny pages I need to make for a swap.
