Summer Of Colour 5 Week 4
The heart theme continues and this weeks colours lend themselves very nicely to it - 2 reds and 1 metallic. I chose to use a primary red and cadmium red deep hue with gold accents. The heart was cut made using some oriental text paper onto which I stenciled some gold flowers and added some red gems to the center. I've stamped some random abstract designs around the edges of the canvas and added some red stars to finish off. I may come back to this one at a later date as I feel it's still unfinished but for this project it serves it's purpose.

Summer Sunshine
Day 7 of 'Blogtoberfest14 - it's soooo cold here today and it hasn't stopped raining. Like many others I don't like the cold damp weather. I did rebel a little bit and wore a light summer top but I think it will be the last time - unless of course the weather decides to give us a few more days of sunshine.
Anyway as a little reminder of sunny days I'm going to share one of my favourite pieces of jewellery. This was custom made for someone who follows me on facebook. I love the chain as it's so pretty and even though it's silver plated it doesn't lose it's shine if looked after properly. I've used a mix red/orange and green glass beads. Doesn't it remind you of summer?

Inky Backgrounds
Happy Tuesday everyone. Today is all about creating backgrounds with spray and acrylic inks. For these backgrounds I've used glossy photo paper. I have a whole stash of them which came with my printer. Normally I would use alcohol inks on them but thought I would have a play with the inks from Oak House Studio.
You don't have to have photographic paper in fact it's probably better if you can use the glossy paper for encaustic wax. Why? well the photographic paper is designed for the ink to dry quickly and ebbed itself into the paper when you print on it and the encaustic from what I can remember isn't as porous and so has a slow drying time. Having said that I'm pretty pleased with how these backgrounds have turned out.
I haven't done a tutorial for these as there really is no right or wrong way of making these. I started off by spraying plain water to the paper, then added the spray inks and then sprinkled/splodged/flicked the acrylic ink with an old paint brush. Carry on adding plain water or the spray inks until you are happy with how the paints have merged and then either leave them to dry or use a heat gun.
Pop back again to see how I use these in one of my projects.

Challenging Colours
It's week 5 of the Summer of Colour 4 challenge hosted over on Twinkle Twinkle Like a Star. With only one more week to go I and some of the other artists are already getting withdrawal symptoms.
This weeks colour challenge was Royal Blue, Red and a splish, splash or dash of light blue. Now lovely as the colours are on their own they were a definite challenge to me. This really isn't a colour scheme I would ever choose to use. But as this was a challenge I went a head and did some research and then played with the colour palette and this is what I came up with.
I tried to keep the design element simple by using my all time favourite - hearts. I used neo-colourII as the main colour medium. Then I stamped the face and swirly leaf design in the light blue. I still think it needs some other elements adding to it but for now I'm happy with what I've made and it fits in with this weeks challenge.

Flutterby, Butterfly
So it'a a bank holiday weekend over here in the UK which means a lovely long weekend to play with all your crafty items without feeling guilty about not doing the more tedious jobs around the house.
These butterflies were stenciled onto fabric a few weeks ago but I've not had time to do anything with them. So with the long weekend I decided that this was the perfect time to finish them and to catch up on some movies I've been meaning to watch.
Here they are my textile butterflies with lots of sequins and beads. I can't decide which one I like the best. I'm drawn to both as they have different aspects that I like. Which one do you prefer?

You Lift Me Up
Just a quick post today showing one of my cards with a sassy corset. The corset is a rubber stamp design by Pink Cat Studio - Lingerie set. I've painted it with my favourite Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils and added some jewels to the front. The tiny flower stamp is also part of the set and makes for a great border and as we all know you can never have enough bling I've added the tiniest of gems to the centres. I like this set of stamps as they are sassy and quirky and make me smile.

All Made Up
Last week I posted this picture showing you the start of my new collection.
I've had some amazing feedback from people about the bracelet. At a recent Christmas Market held by a ladies networking group I had the bracelet on display and everyone of the ladies who showed interest in it held out their wrists to try it on. Normally I have to ask if they want to try anything on - but not with this one nope they all wanted to try it on. Which I think is a good response.
The first sample piece that I made was made in lime green and that colour seems to be the most popular even though I offer to make the bracelets in the customers choice of colour.
I'll leave you with a photograph of the original piece.
